(Commercial Circular No. 24 of 2013) Sub: Criteria for selection of popular trains. Ref: (1) Commercial Circular No. 22 of 2008 dated 28.03.2008 (2) Commercial Circular No. 34 of 2011 dated 04.07.2011 Vide Commercial Circular No, 22 of 2008 dated 28.03.2008 and Commercial Circular No. 34 of 2011 dated 04.07.2011, the list of popular trains had been notified by Board. ' 2. It has now been decided that since the Zonal Railways have the complete details of utilization of trains, instead. of issuing the list of popular trains from the Board’s side, the exercise may be undertaken by the respective Zonal Railways. 3. The criteria to be adopted by the concerned Zonal Railways for identifying a train as popular train is as given below: (i) All Rajdhani Express trains; (ii) All Shatabdi Express trains, Gii) All Duronto Express; (iv). All special trains, which are not in Time Table but are run by Railways to clear passenger rush from time to time; (v) All trains, whose occupancy in 3AC, 2AC and 1* AC classes (taken together) in the previous financial year has been more than 60% (59.5% - or more). (vi) In those trains where utilization in even one direction is 60% or above whereas in the return direction it is less than 60%, still these trains will be considered as popular trains in both directions. 4, The passenger analysis to identify popular trains may be undertaken in co- ordination with CRIS well in advance so that the trains are defined in database before the onset of the lean season which, at present, are from 1 February to 31" March and 1* August to 31 August. Hence, as per existing ARP, the annual review should be conducted in such a way that trains are fired in the database before the booking for 1* February starts, The time of the review can be suitably changed in case the ARP is changed. eevee DelliBhny documentsetier_2013 = 5.
