In supersession of Commercial Circular No.04 of 2006, Ministry of Railways have reviewed the vision, strategy and action plan for development of tourism on Railways. Tourism Policy has accordingly been reviewed to realize the vision. Action plan should be formulated by all the Zonal Railways to re-initiate development of tourism. 2. For implementation of new Tourism Policy 2020, IRCTC will facilitate Zonal Railways. IRCTC may modify their software for booking of all products, wherever necessary. 3. The market for tourism ir both international and domestic segments is still growing, being of the order of more than 10 million international tourists and 400 million domestic tourists per annum. 4, This issues with the concurrence of Finance Directorate of Railway Board. 5. Reflecting economic, social and environmental ‘shifts in one tunes, the Tourism sector is a dynamic inspiring force. The nation’s rail network can be leveraged for the development of Tourism in the country as Railways have a presence in most parts of the country. It is also in the process of connecting more places especially the strategic locations as also tourist places with limited connectivity at present. Hence, Railways can position itself to generate substantial revenue focusing on international and domestic tourists. Vision To provide an exceptional travel experience, be it for the business or leisure, domestic or international traveller. Considering the Railways potential, it can position itself as the prime mover by providing an array of products ranging from luxury tourist trains to Pilgrim Trains etc. Objective and Strategy 2.1. Objectives 2.1.1. Promote domestic and international tourism and enhance the share of tourism revenue through sustained growth path. | 2.1.2. To position Railways as a comfortable and safe mode of travel for both foreign and domestic tourists. 2.2. Strategies 2.2.1. To deliver a world class, yet authentic local experience in travel for foreign tourists and design products specially to this end. 2.2.2.
