The issue regarding provision of seat for PTE/Conductor in trains was
being raised by Federation at different levels and various instructions weie
issued from the Ministry of Railways (Railway Board) in this regard. However,
some railways had expressed their inability to implement, these instructions.
Moreover, different railways were adopting different practices for this purpose.
Accordingly, this issue has been considered de-novo in the Ministry of
Railways and in supersession of all the instructions issued on the subject quoted
above now it has been decided to earmark the following accommodation for the
TTEs/Conductors in all the tfains exespt mé(re gauge trains and Shatabdi &
Rajdhani Express trains:-

(ij) Berth No.5 in Aq] Coach only for Conductor manning Ist AC/ AC 2-
tier/First Class | . |

(Gi) Berth No.7 in AS-| Coach only for TTE manne AC 3-tier coaches.

(iti) Berth No.7 in alternate sleeper class coaches for TTEs manning Sleeper
Class coaches.

It is also desired thatthe number of RAC passengers may be increased by
2 in AC 2-tier, AC 3-tier and Sleeper Class coaches, CCM(PM), Zonal
Railways and GM/PRS/CRIS may examine the practicability of unplementing
this aspect either by Software change or by database change.

The total number of berths to be utilised by TTEs in a train shall,
however, be equal to the actual number of TTEs travelling in the train.
The remaining berths shall be released to the RAC passengers in order of

priority in that coach. This should be scrupulously followed by all the Zonal
Railways. Necessary action may be taken accordingly and receipt of this letter
acknowledged. - (0 a
