Sub: Passenger Fares w.e.f. 01.04.2012-Railway Budget 2012-13.

Sanction of the Central Government is hereby accorded to the changes in
passenger fares and other charges w.e.f. 1.4.2012. The staff may be deputed to
- collect the revised passenger fares table from IRCA.

1. The changes in fares as above shall come into force w.e.f 01.04.2012.

2. The revised fares will also apply to tickets issued in advance for. journeys to
commence on or after 01.04.2012. In the case of tickets already issued at
pre-revised rates, it should be ensured that the difference in fares and other
charges from 01.04.2012 is recovered either by TTEs in the train or by the
Booking Offices before commencement of the journey by the passengers.
Commercial inspectors and TIAs should visit all important stations and ensure
that fares and other charges are levied and tickets issued as per the revised
rates. Commercial Officers should also make surprise checks at the stations
and ensure that the fares and other charges are levied with effect from
01.04.2012 at the revised rates.

- 3. The Fare List for information of the public at the stations should be revised
and corrected showing the new fares with effect from 01.04.2012.

4. Special arrangements should be made to ensure that necessary instructions
and the revised Passenger Fare Tables reach the staff well in time. Steps
should also be taken to ensure that the staff fully understand these changes
and implement them properly.

5. Zonal Railways may note that in modification of Explanatory notes of

_ the passenger Fare Table applicable w.e.f. 01.04.2012, the existing
methodology for concessions and computation of child fare for
Rajdhani, Shatabdi, Duronto and Jan Shatabdi Trains shall continue i.e
the concession/child fare applicable shall be computed on the point to
point all inclusive fares of these category of trains. Necessary
corrigendum to the IRCA Passenger Fare Table shall follow.

‘6. It may be ensured that the revised fares be charged in accordance with the
revised fare table.

7. Necessary instructions may be issued to all concerned, including PRSs,
immediately.

8. This issues with the concurrence of Finance Directorate of Ministry of
Railways. The receipt of this letter may be acknowledged.
