Sub: Introduction of Alternate Train Accommodation Scheme
(VIKALP).

Ref: 2007/TG-1/20/P/ATAS dated 14.10.2015 (CC No. 61/2015) &
2007/TG-1/20/P/ATAS dated 23.11.2015.

With a view to provide confirmed accommodation to waitlisted passengers and
also to ensure optimal utilisation of available accommodation, the Alternate Train
Accommodation Scheme (ATAS) known as VIKALP was introduced as a pilot

_ project on Delhi-Lucknow & Delhi-Jammu sectors on Northern Railways vide letters

referred to above.

ll Keeping in view the announcement made in the Railway Budget
2016-17 regarding expansion of this scheme, matter has been reviewed and it has been
decided that VIKALP scheme may also be introduced on the following sectors in
normal Mail/Express and Superfast trains except Rajdhani/Shatabdi/Duronto/Suvidha
Express Trains :- .

i. Delhi-Howrah

ti. Delhi-Mumbai

iii. Dethi-Chennai

iv. Delhi-Bangalore

v. Delhi-Secunderabad

1.2 It has been decided that all the passengers booked under this scheme will be
given an option for getting alternate accommodation irrespective of the fact whether.
the boarding/destination stations of the passenger are originating/terminating stations
or road side station e.g. a passenger booked ex Delhi to Nagpur will be considered
under VIKALP on Delhi-Chennai sector. Similarly, a passenger booked
ex Nagpur-Chennai will also be considered on Delhi-Chennai sector, Initially this
scheme will be available for shifting passengers across all category of trains except
Rajdhani, Shatabdi, Duronto and Suvidha Express trains or those trains where catering
component is included in the fare.

project-for a period of six months from the date of implementation

CRIS will make necessary modifications in the software at the earliest under

intimation to all Zonal Railways as well as to this office
