Sub: Grant of concession in train fares to Allopathic Doctors.

As announced by MR in Lok Sabha on 2.12.2002 during Supplementary
Demand for Grants, in order to render medical assistance to needy passengers during
journey as well as Railway accidents, Ministry of Railways have decided to grant x oe

concession will be admissible in accordance with the rule
Tariff No. 25, Part | (Vol. Il), subject to the following : -

(i) The concessional tickets will be issued directly from the
stations/reservation offices on production of an Undertaking in the prescribed proforma
(enclosed), along with a copy each of--—- MBBS Degree & Registration Certificate.

(i) Concession will be admissible in basic Mail/Express fares of all classes.
in the case of Rajdhani/Shatabdi/Jan Shatabdi group. of trains, concession will be
admissible in their all-inclusive fares. Concession will be admissible in single/return
tickets and not in season tickets/circular journey tickets/Special trains/coaches. No
concession will be admissible in other charges like reservation fee, superfast
surcharge, etc.

(iii) Concession will be admissible without any minimum distance of travel
and minimum number of Doctors in any train. ,

(iv) Whenever concession ts granted to the Doctor, the reservation chart
must show indication to this effect.

(vy) The Conductors/TTEs/TSs will keep a note of Coach & seat/berth
number of such Doctors and call them to render medical assistance in case of need.

(vi) Wherever feasible, the Coach & seat/berth number of the Doctor may be
announced frequently for information of traveling passengers.

(vii) If some Doctor, traveling on concessional tickets, refuses to render
medical assistance to needy passengers, the zonal Railway will bring the matter to the
notice of Indian Medical Association for necessary action. Anyone claiming faise
concession will be levied penalty applicable under the rules.

2. A copy of the requisite Declaration for grant of concession to Allopathic
Doctors, as mentioned above, is enclosed. Copies of this Declaration may be kept at
all Stations/Reservation/Booking Offices for supply to Dectors —— free of cost.
Besides, this Declaration may be put in Railway's Website also.

3. This concession will come into effect for tickets issued from 1.4.2003. Wide
publicity may be given through various media in this regard.

4. Necessary instructions may be issued to all concerned immediately. This
issues with the concurrence of Finance and Heaith Directorates of this Ministry.
