Sub: Menibers of Selection Board for filling up of the vacancies of licensed
porters ~ reg.

Instructions were issued vide Board’s letter No, 73/TFG.IL/ 1010/56 dt. 7.6.1974
regarding constitution of a Selection Comumittee for filling up the vacancies of licensed
porters. Board have now decided that the Selection Committee for filling up the
vacancies of licensed porters would comprise of two Junior Scale Officers one each from
Commercial and Personnel Departments. The committee shall satisfy itself about the
antecedents and physical fitness of the candidates to perform the duties of licensed
porter. The selection will be done on the basis of the recommendations of the Selection
Comunittee

In order to ensure that the passengers do not find any difficulty in securing the
Rervices of licensed porters, railways should review the strength of the licensed porters
at various stations on the basis of the traffic handled at the station and the requirement
of the passengers. On the basis of the above assessment, if the number of licensed
porters are considered inadequate at a particular station, Railways mwy initiate the
process of engaging additional licensed porters. For this purpose, applications
willing candidates may be called for through Press Notifications.
