All Zonal Railways,
(COMMERCIAL CIRCULAR NO.10 OF 2010)
Sub: Doctors on Duronto Trains — Pilot Project.
Please refer to instructions issued vide this office letter No.2009/H/7/5 dated
11.02.2010(copy enclosed) regarding pilot project for provision of Doctors on Duronto Trains
wherein it has been advised that two berths in 2* AC compartment will have to be earmarked to
carry a Doctor, Attendant, Medicines, etc. On this, some of Zonal Railways have sought
guidelines regarding earmarking of accommodation and travel authority for doctors and
paramedical staff in Duronto Express Trains. In this connection, it is clarified as under:-
{i) Berth No.! & 3 in A-} Coach should be earmarked for Doctors in Duronto Trains.
' In case of those trains where these berths have already been booked, Railway may
earmark the accommodation in alternate coach till regular earmarking is done in A-
1 Coach. This will ensure uniformity and it will be easy to disseminate information
to general public about this service.
{ii} Doctor and his/her team will trave! on these berths on the authority of Duty Pass
issued to them, for which instructions will be issued by Establishment Directorate
separately
(iii) During the night, a co-ordination will have to be made among the Train
Superintendent, ailing passengers and Doctor in the train for which Railways may
devise a suitable mechanism.
