‘While presenting the Railway Budget, MR has declared the
' year 1999-2000 as a ‘Passenger Year’. He has further declared that
_ all efforts will be made to make atleast one station at each Division
as model station where higher levei of passenger facilities will. be
provided, to |

2... Consequent upon the announcement made by MR, a list of 61

Stations where the higher level of passenger facilities are required to
be provided has been prepared ‘in the Board's Office. A note

"Indicating the names of the stations selected, the areas of

_ Upgradation chosen and also implementation plan for these stations
~_ Is enclosed. The General Managers may change one or two stations

if considered necessary without increasing. overall number. The

targets indicated in the annexure are only indicative and the Zonal
Railways should, however, make all efforts to adhere to the same. — ;

catering modular stalls are to be provided through Commercial.
Publicity Route, action should be initiated immediately to provide this. -

National Train Enquiry System is an important project: Action should

; 4, In waiting rooms, booking offices, toilets ete, care should be

taken to avoid expenditure on lavish and gaudy items..

S.-i must be ensured that all infra-structure facilities and all
passenger amenities are available at the Stations as per the existing

norms.

‘gs. Various facilities to be provided at the stations should be

‘planned in a coordinated manner and approved by DRMIGM. The

gstimates for each works should be made out with the. approval of

_ DRM and sanctioned by GM. Wherever, necessary proposals may

‘be sent to the respective Directorate in the Board’s Office for

sanctioning them on out of turn basis. -

7. Special attention should also be paid to various other aspects

such as cleanliness, timely and correct. announcements, facilities
being in working éondition, courtesy’of staff etc.

1.1 SIGNAGES To improve the cominunication with passengers;

two specific areas have been identified ~ one is provision of .

standardised signages and second is improvements in the enquiries.

For the purpose of signages, detailed joint instructions alongwith

Civil Engineering, Electrical and Finance Directorates have been

issued from Railway Board vide. letter -No. 97/TG-11/39/1 1/Signanges _

dated 11.3.99. These should be implemented by using commercial
publicity route. Provision of signages should be done as per a

detailed plan. Wherever the response from this scheme is not

proper, departmental action should be taken. Only standardised

signages at all t
