NOTICE 
 
 
 
 
The Divisional Railway Manager (Commercial), Southern Railway, Tiruchchirappalli invites applications 
for appointment of Halt Agent at the following stations over Tiruchchirappalli division to issue tickets on 
commission basis for a period of five years.  
 
1.  Ayandur 
2. Adhichchanur 
3. Andampallam 
4. Onnupuram  
5. Pennatur 
6. Varakkalpattu 
7. Capper Quarry  
 
Eligibility Criteria  
1 
The Applicants should be a permanent resident of the place where the station situated. 
2 
The Applicants should have minimum qualification of 10th standard pass and should have 
working knowledge of simple English to read name of the stations and value of tickets.   
3 
The applicant should produce a medical certificate showing that h e is fit for the active 
service and free from any communicable diseases. 
Nature of Work. 
(a)  
The Halt Agent should issue Ordinary Printed Card Tickets and Season tickets. 
(b)  
The Contractor shall purchase Ordinary Printed Card Tickets and Season tickets on 
 
payment and sell the tickets. 
(c)  
The above tickets will be stocked at the depot/Base station as notified. 
(d)  
The Commission payable to Halt Agent is as under: 
 
Sales turnover per month (in Rs.)

**    However a minimum of commission payable to the Halt agent would be Rs. 500/- per month             
 
for Halt having stoppage up to 2 pairs of trains and Rs. 750/- per month for the Halts having 
 
stoppages of more than 2 pairs of trains. 
 
Note: The above rates are subject to revision later with retrospective effect. Any changes   in 
 
the policy from time to time will automatically be applicable to the Halt agent. 
(e)  
The commission will be adjusted at the time of purchase of tickets. 
(f)  
The selected candidate has to deposit an amount of Rs. 2000/- (Rupees Two Thousand only) 
 
towards Security Deposit for the fulfilment  of contract and  execute an agreement  on 
 
non-judicial stamped paper of Rs. 100/- (Rupees One Hundred only) 
(g)  
The appointment is purely contractual in nature for a specified period. No facilities 
 
namely, absorption in Railway Service, regularisation of Service, bonus, Railway pass 
 
facilities shall accrue on such appointment as the Halt Agent. Besides, commission, on the 
 
sales turnover, no other remuneration or privilege will be given on this appointment as the 
 
Halt Agent. 
 
 
The selection will be made by calling the applicants at their own cost on a suitable date for screening 
by a committee of officers at Tiruchchirappalli which will be notified to them in due course if there is more 
than one suitable candidate the selection will be by draw of lots drawn by any child. The Existing Train Halt 
Agent can also apply.
