MINISTRY OF RAILWAYS (Railway Board) NOTIFICATION New Delhi, the 26th March, 2018 G.S.R. 278(E).-In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) read with claus.e (d) of sub-section (2) of Section 87 of the Railways Act, 1989 (No. 24 of 1989), the Cent):al Government hereby makes the following rules further to amend the Railways (Punitive charges for overloading of wagon) Rules, 2012, namely:- .

1. (1) These mles may be called the Railways (Punitive charges for overloading of wagon) Amendment Rules, 2018.
(2) They shall come into force on the date of their publication in the Official Gazette.
2. In the Railways (Punitive charges for overloading of wagon) Rules, 2012, in the SCHEDULE,-
(a) nnder the heading Situation-A, in Part-11, for item (ii), the following item shall be substitnted, namely:- "(ii) For BCCW wagons Extent of overloading
*Punitiv.e charges leviable on the entire weight of the coniniodity loaded in excess of. pcnnissiblc carrying caoacitv and loadinl' tolerance of half tonne If the weight of the commodity exceeds the permissible ., carrying capacity of wagon:

(a) up to half to1me Nil.
(b) by more than half tonne but not more than three and.
Two times of lhe freighl rate applicable lo that commodity ..
