COMPENDIUM ON RAILWAY SERVANTS (PASS) RULES 1 1 Subject: School Passes [No. 2740-T/A-V. dated 6.3.1936] I am directed to refer to your reply to the Railway Board's letter No. 2740-T/A-V of the 8th June 1935 and to say that the Railway Board desire the adoption of the following rules for the issue of school passes: (i) The number of school passes that may be issued for each child from the place at which either parent is residing to school or vice versa should be limited to six single journeys during each year. (ii) Passes for an attendant or a guardian may be allowed when accompanying a girl of any age of a boy under 15. (iii) In the case of journeys from the place at which either parent is residing to school, a pass may be issued for the guardian to return to the station from which the journey was commenced. (iv) In the case of journey's of children from school, a pass may be allowed for a guardian or an attendant to proceed from the place at which either parent is residing to the school. 2 . Subject : School Passes to private students when appearing for University Examinations. Reference : Your letter No. 8-P/0/5/III, dated 26th April, 1945. [No. 353-TG, dated 20.6.1945] The Railway Board agree that school passes be allowed to the children of Railway employees when appearing as private students (i.e. not belonging to any recognised school) at the University Examinations subject to the production of a certificate from the Registrar of the University. 3 . Subject : Issue of Duty Passes to Gazetted Officers. Reference : Railway Board's letter No. 420-TG, dated 1st February, 1950. [No. 420-TG, dated 23.6.1950] It has since been decided that duty passes whether metal, leather or card, issued to all Gazetted Officers either on the home or foreign line entitle the holders to take their families (i.e. wife and children) with them. Duty cheque passes issued to all Gazetted Officers either on the home or foreign line may also be endorsed as covering their families (i.e. wife and children), but particulars of family accompanying on each occasion should be specifically mentioned on the cheque passes. 4 . Subject: Issue of Passes to Employees Under Suspension. [No. 420-TG, pt IV, dated 2.8.1950] With reference to your letter No. E-6629, dated the 10th May, 1950, the Board have considered the matter and decided that during the period of suspension, an employee may be given at the discretion of an authority not lower than a Divisional Superintendent, not more than one set of passes per calendar year covering him and his family or if the officer empowered to grant the pass considers the circumstances warrant such relaxation, two single journey passes separately for the employee and his family; provided that, if in the pass account of the employee for the year only one set of passes remains to his credit, no passes can be issued ; provided also that if an employee is retained in service after release from suspension, the passes issued to him during the period of suspension shall be debited I pass account. Note 1: An employee under suspension may not leave his headquarters except with the permission io competent authority.
