Payment of allowance in lieu of kilometreage to Running staff for periods of suspension eventually treated as duty for all purposes – PNM/AIRF Item No. 60/2001. In the PNM/AIRF meeting held on 28 th & 29 th October, 2002, the Staff side had pointed out that as there were not specific instructions from the Board to indicate that with the issue of Board’s letter No. E(P&A)II/80/RS-10 dated 17-7-1981, the provisions contained in the earlier letter No. E(P&A)II-72/FE-4/3(RS) dated 3-11-1972 superseded, some of the zonal Railways had continued to pay running allowance at the rate of 160 kms per day for the period of suspension treated as duty for all purposes, and, recoveries of overpayment would therefore be involved. The issue has been examined and it has been decided by the Board that the cases already decided otherwise by Zonal Railways etc. prior to issue of the instructions dated 17-4-2002 need not be reopened.
