Air Travel by Railway Servants. Reference: F(E)I/2002/AL-28/15 dt. 27.12.2002 Air Travel by Railway Servants. It has come to the notice of the Ministry of Civil Aviation that Govt. servants have been traveling frequently by private airlines even on the sectors which are well connected by Indian Airlines/Alliance Air and this defeats the very purpose for which the above instructions were issued. It is, therefore, reiterated that the instructions on the subject should be scrupulously followed. Travel by private airlines may not be resorted to as a matter of routine. Air travel by Railway Officials should be carefully planned in advance keeping in view the schedule of Indian Airlines in order to avoid taking recourse to travel by Private airlines. In emergent situations/exceptional circumstances, General Managers, with the concurrence of their FA&CAO may, however, permit travel by private airlines.
