Sub: Adjustment in Base Freight Rates- Rationalization of Coal & Coke Tariff Structure.

Ref: Board’s letter No. TCR/1078/2015/07 dated 16.03.2015 and 20.03.2015 (Rates Circular No. 8 of 2015 and Corrigendum thereto).

1.0 Please refer to Board’s Rates Circular under reference notifying adjustment in Base Freight Rates with effect from 01.04.2015.

2.0 With reference to Corrigendum No. 14 to Rates Circular No. 8 of 2015, the competent authority has accorded to the following clarifications:

(i) The term “Coal” shall be read as “Coal & Coke”.

(ii) The enclosed revised Freight Rate Table is hereby replaced with “Freight Rate Table” containing Base Freight Rate per tonne for Special Class 145A (Trainload) and Class 145B (Wagonload) for the Main Commodity Head “Coal & Coke” in the Goods Tariff No.48 Part.| (Vol.I) & Part Il.

(iii) Coal Terminal Surcharge (CTS) shall be read as “Coal & Coke Terminal Surcharge (CTS)” which is leviable at the rate of = 55/- per tonne at both loading and unloading terminals over and above the Base Freight Rate of Class 145A for the distance beyond 100 Kms.

3.0 Aan illustration for calculation of Freight for Coal and Coke as per the revised Base Freight Rate and levy of Coal and Coke Terminal Surcharge (CTS) is enclosed herewith.

4.0 All other details of the Rates Circular under reference will continue to apply unchanged.

5.0 This issues in consultation with Traffic Transportation Directorate and with the concurrence of Finance Directorate of Ministry of Railways.
