Sub: Adjustment in Base Freight Rates- Rationalization of Coal Tariff Structure.

Ref: Board’s letter No. TCR/1078/2015/07 dated 16.03.2015 and 20.03.2015 (Rates Circular No. 8 of 2015 and Corrigendum thereto).

1.0 Please refer Board’s Rates Circular under reference notifying adjustment in Base Freight Rates with effect from 01.04.2015.

2.0 Matter has been reviewed. Sanction of the competent authority is hereby accorded to (i) rationalize the Coal Tariff by changing the distance slabs. The revised freight rate table for Coal traffic per tonne is enclosed herewith. (ii) levy of Coal Terminal Surcharge (CTS) at the rate of % 55/- per tonne at both loading and unloading terminals for traffic of Coal for the distance beyond 100 Kms.

3.0 All other details of the Rates Circular under reference will continue to apply unchanged.

4.0 These instructions shall come into force with immediate effect and shall remain in force till further advice.

5.0 This issues in consultation with Traffic Transportation Directorate and with the concurrence of Finance Directorate of Ministry of Railways.
