Sub: Exemption from mandatory(100%) weighment for the commodities loaded in standard bags of uniform size Ref: (i) Rates Master Circular/Weighment/2014/0

(ii) Board’s letter No.TC-1/2011/109/11 dt.18.09.2015.

Please refer to Para 3.1 of Rates Master Circular under reference (i) regarding exemption from mandatory(100%) weighment for the commodities loaded in standard bags of uniform size.

Further, as per Board’s letter under reference (ii), the term ‘standard bags of uniform size’ denotes all bags of standard size bags having pre-stenciled/pre-printed weight mentioned on them and which are filled uniformly through automated system having pre-weighing mechanism that ensure the weight of the commodity being filled in each bag is as per the pre-stenciled/pre-printed weight and that such system has been duly certified by the Weights and Measures department.

The matter has been reviewed and it has been decided that the term ‘standard bags of uniform size’ denotes all bags of standard size bags which are filled uniformly.

While booking such consignment, the customer will give a written undertaking in the forwarding note stating that the bags are standard bags of uniform size filled with uniform weight of commodity.

concurrence of Finance Dte. of the Ministry of Railways. a
