**Policy for running of ‘Teevra Gati Sewa (TGS)’ train by multiple**

**consignors from multiple originating points.**

With a view to retrieve piecemeal traffic, which is presently moving by other modes of transportation, it has been decided to run ‘Teevra Gati Sewa (TGS)’ trains consisting of Parcel Vans (VPHs/VPs/VPUs etc.) as a pilot project.

The aim of the project is: -

(i) To increase parcel traffic by providing assured quick transit time.

(ii) To facilitate industry to avail time-tabled parcel service in Parcel Van load on nominated day.

(iii) To enable web booking of Parcel Vans.

**Guidelines running of ‘Teevra Gati Sewa (TGS)**

1.The train shall connect two important stations having sufficient demand for parcel traffic in both directions.

2. The ‘Teevra Gati Sewa (TGS) service will be provided on nominated day on a fixed schedule time-tabled path with guaranteed transit time.

3. The train will run from originating to destination station with provision for attachment/ detachment of VPs enroute as per pre-defined stoppage and number of VPs allocated for each station. However subject to availability of space in train more VP can be permitted from the intermediate or originating stations.

4. The time table for ‘Teevra Gati Sewa (TGS)’ trains will be prepared by originating zonal railway in consultation with Railway Board and other zonal railways through which the train passes. Time-table of ‘Teevra Gati Sewa (TGS)’ trains will be circulated separately.

5. Loading/unloading of parcels at intermediate stations will not be permitted. Instead, ‘Teevra Gati Sewa (TGS) trains shall run on specific streams with provision of schedule attachment/detachment of Parcel Vans enroute.

6. The Parcel Vans (VPHs/VPs/VPUs etc.) by ‘Teevra Gati Sewa (TGS)’ service shall be allotted to multiple parties as per demand of registration for the nominated day’s service.

7. The VP booking will be on similar line as is available for the booking of reserved passengers in a train on ‘First-come-first serve’ basis from these stations.

8. There shall be nominated enroute station(s) where attaching/detaching of Parcel Vans will be permitted. There will be 20 minutes stoppage at each enroute station to facilitate shunting operation.

9. The indents from the consignors shall be accepted for nominated days of service. It will be for specific date and shall be accepted upto 30 days in advance from the nominated day of service. 20% of the freight shall be collected in advance at the time of registration of indent. Registration fee for

VP shall also be collected as per prescribed rules.

10. The frequency of service will be decided on the basis of demand.

11. The ‘Teevra Gati Sewa (TGS)’ train shall run on nominated day of service as per its time table irrespective of it’s load.

12. Punctuality of ‘Teevra Gati Sewa (TGS)’ train should be monitored by the Punctuality Cell of Divisions/Zonal Railways. The running position of the train should be updated in COIS. Daily monitoring position should also be conveyed telephonically to Parcel Monitoring Cell of Railway Board at Tel No. 43208 or 43674 (Rly).

13. TXR examination:- Each Parcel Van (VPH/VP/VPU etc.) attached in the ‘Teevra Gati Sewa (TGS)’ train shall have break power. No pit line examination will be required for Parcel Vans attached in the ‘Teevra Gati Sewa (TGS)’ train. Enroute any number of Parcel Vans can be attached/ detached in the train provided all attached Parcel Vans have been pre-examined and have full break power.

14. The Parcel Vans of ‘Teevra Gati Sewa (TGS)’ train shall not be handled at passenger platform. The handling and loading/unloading operation shall be done at separate parcel shed/goods shed nominated by the railway administration for this purpose.

15. As this is a pilot project, Railway shall reserve the right to discontinue the service at any time with one month notice.

16. Free time as per extant rule shall be applicable for loading/ unloading of Parcel Vans at
