freight & coaching customers as well as earning more non- fare revenues for
the Railway. They are in direct contact with our customers, both in freight
and passenger segments and it is pertinent that they have skills to successfully
sell Railway's Freight and coaching services to them, while informing them of
all the new initiatives, incentives and schemes that Railway launches from
time to time. Marketing our services to the customers in a better manner
would lead to more business for the Railways and will also help Railways to

Course Design
The course is designed to help officers
appreciate the importance of marketing in
taking any product or service to the customer.
Peer learning and learning best practices is
also an important element of the course.
As
a
Government
organization,
our
marketing efforts are limited. This needs to
change as the customer today has large
number of options to choose from. If Railway
has to sell its services, it must design them as
per customer needs.
Accordingly, identification of customer needs
is critical element of any marketing strategy.
Good work is being done in pockets across
Railways. The course offers an opportunity to
learn from these initiatives.

Mission Karmayogi:
Shift from Rule based to Role Based
Training: In government, every post has an
assigned role and each role has activities
associated with it. Similarly, each activity
