Sub:Applicability of Wharfage on Railway Material Consignment(RMC) at RMC
siding opened for handling goods traffic also
Ref: Rates Circular No. 23 of 2009

Please refer to NR's letter No.100-R/BDU/Goods Shed/HQ dt.10.02.2025 wherein
Railway has mentioned that if a RMC siding is opened for handling goods traffic also, whether
Wharfage rule will be applicable in case of RMC.

In terms of Para 21 of Rates Circular No. 23 of 2009, no Wharfage charge shall be
levied on RMC lying at railway premises which are meant exclusively for handling RMC.

RMC sidings are railway premises meant for exclusively RMC. If a RMC siding is
opened for handling goods traffic also, then the guidelines stipulated vide Para 21 of Rates
Circular No.23 of 2009 will continue to be applicable in case of RMC. In other words, no
Wharfage charge is leviable on RMC lying at such siding. However, Wharfage rule will be
applicable in case of goods traffic.

This issues with the approval of competent authority.
