Ref: Railway Board Circular No.14 of 2020 dt.27 .06.2020 Reference has been received regarding one Zonal Railway notifying a Goods shed in its jurisdiction as alternate Goods Shed of a busy Goods shed lying in different Zonal Railway.

The matter has been reviewed and following clarifications are issued:

1. As per extant guidelines, PCOM, in consultation with PCCM, of Zonal Railways may notify Alternate Goods Shed of a busy goods shed. The purpose of notifying an alternate Goods shed is to decongest an already busy Goods shed. Thus, the alternate Goods shed should be notified by the Zonal Railway in which the busy Goods shed is located.

2. If the alternate Goods shed lies in a different Zone, then such a notification may be issued only after obtaining the consent of the Zone in which the alternate Goods shed is located.

In case of any disagreement the matter may be referred to Railway Board.

3. If a Zone feels that a particular Goods shed needs to be notified as an alternate Goods shed of a busy Goods shed lying in other Zonal Railway, then it may send a request to PCOM of concerned Zonal Railway who will get it examined in consultation with PCCM and issue necessary notification.
