1. East Central Railway vide letter under reference, has sent a proposal for running of Roll on-Roll off (RO-RO) service across the Ganga over East Central Railway. The issue has been examined.

2. Sanction of the Central Government is hereby accorded for in-principle approval to the proposal of running of RO-RO service across the Ganga on East Central Railway. Since as per Section 32 of the Railways Act, 1989, Railway Administration is vested with the power to quote station to station/lump sum rate for carriage of any commodity, East Central Railway may decide the tariff for such RO-RO service in the best interest of Railways.

3. It is also advised that the action in this regard taken so as to cater to Railways interest i.e. enhancement of earnings and austerity in expenditure should be followed.

4. The performance of the scheme may be evaluated after six months to analyze

the profitability of same.

5. This issues with the concurrence of Finance Directorate of Ministry of
