Sub:- Payment of freight charges through Bank draft.
Please refer to Board's wireless message No.TC-1/87/14/z dated 2.7.1993. wherein the facility to accept railway payment of freight and other dues exceeding Rs; 1000/ through Bank drafts/Bank pay orders drawn on Nationalised/Scheduled Banks was extended, beyond 30.6.93 without any time limit.
20> Board have now decided that payment of Railway freight & other dues for amount exceeding Rs 10,000/= will not be accepted in cash but through Bank drafts/Bank pay order draw on Nationalised/Scheduled Banks. Regarding the Bank on which cheque/draft/pay order should be drawn, please connect instm- ctions issued in this*office letter No. TC-1/90/104/3(8) dated
7.2.1996.
3. These instructions will not be applicable to transactions.
covered by other modes of payment viz credit note cum cheque, ‘weight only system, cheque etc.
4. ‘This issues with concurrence of Accounts and Finance Directorates of this Ministry.
5. These instructions will take effect from 1.3.1996.
