Chief Commercial Manager ECoR Sub: Demurrage Charge Ref: Corrigendum No.32 to Rates Master Circular/Demurrage-Wharfage-Waiver/2016/0 Please refer to ECoR's letter No.PCCM/95/DC/Pt. VII(Part)/218 dt.03.03.2023 wherein Railway has sought methodology for calculation of Dernurrage Charge with illustration, in case any rake detained for 08 hours beyond permissible free time.

The matter has been examined in consultation with Finance Dte. It is to state that graded Demurrage rates have been prescribed vide Board's circular under reference, as under:

Duration of excess detention Rate of Demurrage (Beyond prescribed free time for Loading/unloading) Base Rate· (~ 150 per wagon per hour or part thereof) Beyond 6 hours upto 12 hours Beyond 12 hours upto 24 hours Base rate + 25% Beyond 24 hours upto 48 hours Base rate + 50% Beyond 48 hours upto 72 hours Twice of Base rate Beyond 72 hours Thrice of Base rate Illustration for calculation of Demurrage is given below:
