Chief Commercial Manager All Zonal Railways CAO/FOIS Camp: CRIS Chanakyapuri New Delhi-21 Sub: Capturing HSN code of commodities for transportation in containers by rail Ref: Board’s letter No.TC-I/2020/302/efile(3333729) dt.08.06.2022 Please refer to Board’s letter dt.08.06.2022 under reference wherein Zonal Railways have been advised to ensure filling up the ‘HSN Code’ and ‘commodity description’ in the system by container operators, without which no RR/eT-RR be issued. Instances have come to the notice of Board that in many cases, RRs are being issued where operators have not filled up the HSN Code. In this regard, guidelines prescribed vide Board’s letter dt.08.06.2022 under reference are reiterated for strict compliance. HSN Code and commodity description is a mandatory field. CRIS/FOIS is requested to develop a check in the system in line with the Board’s guidelines. These guidelines will be effective from 01.05.2023. This issues in consultation with Traffic Transportation directorate of Railway Board.
