Chief Commercial Manager South Central Railway Sub: Charging freight on Through Distance Basis in case of sidings Ref: (i) Rates Master Circular/F reight on Through Distance Basis/2014/0 and its amendments (ii)SCR’s letter No.C.490/Policy/Sdgs/Vol.XXI dt.23.01.2026 Please refer to SCR’s letter under reference(ii) wherein, inter alia referring to Audit observation, Railway has sought clarification regarding applicability of charging Freight on Through Distance basis, in case of a siding, namely ARV Cement Society & ACC Ltd.(ARVY). Zonal Railway has mentioned that Board's circular do not specify the actions to be taken for discontinuance of through-distance basis charging. Extant guidelines prescribed vide Para 1.0 and 2.0 of Board's circular under reference(i) stipulates the conditions for applicability and non-applicability of Freight on Through Distance Basis, respectively. It is to state that the power vested with the authority for notifying a siding on Through Distance Basis charging, itself implies that the same authority is empowered to revert the same, with due consideration.
