Sub: Clarification on levy of Engine Detention Charge of special trains booked on Full Tariff Rates. | In terms of Rule No. 401.6 of IRCA Coaching Tariff No. 26 Part-I (Vol.-1), detention charge shall be levied for keeping the engine in steam or detention to Diesel/Electronic Locomotives of Special trains. . 2. Based on a clarification sought by SEC Railway on the aforesaid Rule, the matter has been considered. It is clarified that if the engine, handling special trains on FTR are earmarked for the specific use of the special train only and not utilised for any other purpose, engine detention charge shall be levied as per extant Rule. However > if the engine handling special train on FTR on arrival at intermediate/destination stations are utilised for other purposes like working with other trains etc., engine detention charge shall be levied for total hour between arrival and departure of the train at intermediate/destination stations minus the number of hours the said engine is utilised for other purposes. 3. For this purpose, Station Manager/Superintendent shall! clearly mention the detention/utilisation of the engine on the original folder. 4. This issues with the concurrence of Finance Directorate of Ministry of Railways. 5. Ensure action accordingly and confirm.
