No.TC-/2001/223/1Pt.C FA&CAo(T) WR, Mumbai. |1 2 Please refer to FA&CAO(T)/WR's letter No. TA/ Aii/WD/Policy/Vol. IV dt.4.5.2007 wherein a clarification has been sought regarding reckoning of Sundays for the purpose of calculating Demurrage/Wharfage at stations included in the list of 'Notified Stations'. Sub: Reckoning of Sundays under Demurrage/Wharfage rule Query The matter has been examined and clarifications are as under: Reckoning Government of India Ministry of Railways (Railway Board) of under Sundays .Demurrage Rule Reckoning Sundays Wharfage rule New Delhi, dt.9 4 .32009 of under Clarification Sundays are reckoned (i.e. Sundays are not treated as dies non) for the purpose of levy of Demurrage at all stations / goods sheds including those which are notified as 'Notified Stations' in terms of Section 89 of the Railways Act, 1989.. A. Prior to 1.4.07, Sundays were to be reckoned (i.e. Sundays for the pupose of levy of are not treated as dies non) Wharfage in following cases bnly: For booking/delivery of live stock & perishable goods At such goods sheds/stations which were .notified by displaying notice at the station notice board to be open on Sundays for booking or delivery of goods At such goods sheds/stations where bookings were done or delivery of goods were given on Sundays in practice. B. In terms of Para 3.2 of Rates Circular No.21 of 2007, from 1.4.07, Sundays are being reckoned (ie. Sundays are not treated as dies non) for the purpose of levy of Wharfage at all goods sheds/stations including those which are notified as Notified Stations' in terms of Section 89 of the Railways "Act, 1989. The matter may be disposed off accordingly. However, already settled cases should not be reoperned.
