Sub: Waiving-off of freight charges on transportation of dead bodies of Railway employees expired during performance of official duty.

Ref: Railway Board’s letter No. TCI/2046/05/5 dated 21.3.05.

Ministry of Railways have decided, on humanitarian grounds as a welfare measure, that no freight charges shall be levied for transportation of dead body of a railway employee, to the native place/place where family resides, etc, if his/her death has occurred during the performance of official duty.

2. These instructions will come into effect from the date of issue.

3. This Issues with the concurrence. of Finance Directorate of Ministry of Railways.

4. Necessary instructions may be issued to all concerned immediately.
