Sub: Fixation of Siding Charge

A clarification has been sought regarding fixation of Siding Charge in the case where average trip time comes out to be part of an hour. ं

2... The extant practice prevailing over Zonal Railways reveals that there is

uniformity in fixation of Siding Charge and the relevant formula used by them is as

under:- ) S “Siding Charge = Average trip time in minutes x (Engine Hour Cost = 60)"

The resultant of the above formula is rounded off to the next higher value to arrive at the net Siding Charge. ः '

3. In view of above, it is clarified that Siding Charge will be fixed on the basis of aforementioned formula after rounding off the resultant to the next higher value. In case ‘average trip time’ is less than one hour, the Siding Charge will be levied for a minimum of one hour. Illustrations are given below:

3. These instructions will be effective from 01.10.2009. However, already settled _ cases will not be reopened. °
