(ii)Board's letter No.TC-1/89/112/1 dt.02.08.1989 Eastern Railway has furnished the extant procedure regarding lcv y ol Custom Lxn111inutitlll Charge and has requested for making requisite provision in the system (FO\S/Tf\1S).

Custom Examination Charge This charge is being levied for providing additional facility for custom exc1rnination or goods nl the concerned Indian Land Customs station. The rate is <1.70 per quintal as per Board's letter No.TC- 1/89/112/1 dated 02.08.1989.

Admissible free time for custom examination and detention charge-

(i) If the consignment is in position for custom examination at the time or opening or Custorns Office.

then admissible free time will be upto the closing time of Custom's Office on the same cln)

(ii) If consignment is placed after opening time of Custom's Office (i.e. during working hours or Cusioms Office), then admissible free time will be until closing time of Custom's Office of tile follo« ing cla:

(iii) If custom examination could not be completed within the above mentioned free time and there 1-;

detention to wagons beyond such free time, Detention Charge will be levied for the entire period or detention without allowing any free time.

(iv) Prior to O 1.04.2022, the rate of Detention Charge was <0.30 per quintal per hour as informed b) Eastern Railway.

(v) With effect from 01.04.2022, Detention Charge is leviable @Demurrnge Charge in view or Board's Circular under reference (i) which says - "ff a rake gets detained by C11sto111s due to discrep1111n· in LC or any other cause atlributable to the customer, Detention Charge (whose rote 11'i!I he .\·c1111e as Demurrage) will be levied for the period of detention of the rake.

CRlS/FOIS is requested to design the above functionality in the system in coordination with l~a"tcrn Railway.

This issues in consultation with Traffic Transportation and Finance directorates or Railway Board.
