All Zonal Railways.

Sub: Launching special ticket checking drive.

At present regular and surprise checks are conducted by Zonal Railways against passengers travelling
without ticket/with improper ticket.

2, With a view to prevent ticketless/unauthorized travelling in the upcoming festival/rush period and to
facilitate passengers in getting tickets, it is desired that Zonal Railways should take following action:

i. Zonal Railways should launch special ticket checking drives for the period 01.10.2024 to
15.10.2024 and 25.10.2024 to 10.11.2024.

ii. Suitable action as per the provisions of the Railways Act, 1989. may be taken against
unauthorised passengers found travelling in reserved/unreserved coaches or at stations, without
valid travel authority/ ticket.

iii. | Special emphasis may be given during this period on checking the accommodation released out
of Emergency Quota and reserved accommodation obtained against specific quotas like senior
citizen, cancer patient, etc., so as to keep a check on its misuse.

iv. To prevent the misuse of concession, ticket checking staff may be instructed to ascertain the
genuineness of the passenger by checking valid prescribed proof of identity.

v. Ease in ticket booking may be facilitated by ensuring proper functioning of counters, opening
of additional counters as per local requirement, operationalization of all available ATVMs.

vi. Facilitators should also facilitate passengers intending to book ticket themselves through
ATVMs using their own digital mode of payment.

vii. Public address system should be used for spreading awareness regarding travelling with valid

ः authority/ ticket and booking tickets through authorized agents & UTS on Mobile app/IRCTC
website.

viii. Zonal Railways should nominate senior level officers to monitor these drives at divisional as
well as zonal level. Feedback of these drives may be sent to this office by 18.11.2024.
