Text of the circular

भारत सरकार GOVERNMENT OF INDIA रेल मंत्रालय MINISTRY OF RAILWAYS ( रेलवे बोर्ड RAILWAY BOARD )

No. 2020/TC(FM)/11/11 New Delhi, dated 22.06.2020 Principal Chief Commercial Managers, Principal Chief Operations Managers, All Zonal Railways.

Sub: Minimum composition of ‘Indented Parcel Trains.’

***** In order to ensure that supply-chains for essential commodities are not disrupted due to the nation-wide lockdown on account of COVID-19 pandemic, permission was granted to Zonal Railways to run parcel special trains with a reduced minimum composition of ‘5 + 1’ on inter-Railway routes. Accordingly, Zonal Railways have been running scheduled (time- tabled) Parcel Special trains as well as indented Parcel trains with a minimum composition

Now, vide Railway Board’s letter No. TC-II/2910/2020/Special Train/Covid-19 dated

28.05.2020, permission has been granted for booking of parcel and luggage in 15 pairs of Special Rajdhanis and 100 pairs of Special Mail/Express trains. Scheduled (time-tabled) Parcel Special trains are also being run between O-D pairs having high demand.

Since, these regular train services are now available to transport essential commodities, it is felt that running of ‘indented’ Parcel Special trains with reduced composition of ‘5 + 1’ is not desirable.

Hence, it is decided that ‘indented’ Parcel Trains shall be permitted to operate with a minimum composition of ‘10 Parcel Vans + SLR’ for perishable traffic, and with a minimum composition of ’15 Parcel Vans + SLR’ for other traffic.

These instructions shall remain in effect till 31.08.2020. Thereafter (from 01.09.2020 onwards), the minimum composition will be restored to ’15 Parcel Vans + SLR’ for perishable traffic and to ’20 Parcel Vans + SLR’ for all other traffic.

This has the approval of Competent Authority.

22/6/2020 (Mudit Chandra) Director Freight Marketing
