Sub :- Prohibition of Name based cooking in Paniry Cars -[mplementation of recommendations of [igh Level Safety Review Committee.

Refi- Board's Letter of even no. dated 10/10/2018, 23/05/2019, 12/06/2019 & 19/07/2019.

This refers ta the recommendation of the High Level Safely Review Committee (Kakodkar Canmittee) that existing instructions prohibiting cooking in pantry cars should be strictly enforced and that license of violating contractors should be cancelled and they should be severely penalized if found cooking. This recommendation has been accepted by the Board and expeditious implementation is being sought.

Board's instructions as referred above have been issued regarding prohibition of Mame based cooking in Pantry Cars. Recently a Special Drive was launched to ensure compliance on this issue. The reports received from Zonal Railways have given rise 10 fresh concern that progress in this regard has been slow and that flame cooking is being carried out in most pantry cars. a

IRCTC is advised to ensure that meals/cooked food are supplied from the nominated Kitchens as ‘ envisaged in the extant policy. Further, Zonal Railways/IRCTC shall take necessary action for modification/fitment of pantry car equipments as per the requirement and available loads so that complaint free catering services to passengers is continued 10 be provided.

IRCTC and PCCMs of the concerned Zonal Railways shall also depute one nodal officer each at Division Level to co-ordinate with the Mcehanical Coaching /Electrical Eiigineering Deptts/Primary Maintenance Depots to ensure availability/working of Pantry Car equipments like builers/hat cases ete, and climination of LPG based fillings in pantry cars so that flame based cooking in pantry cars must not be permitted beyond the timeline stipulated above, and compliance in this matter may be sent lo the Board.

This issues with the approval of the Competent Authority.
