Will the Minister of RAILWAYS be pleased to state
(2) the steps taken hy Goverment o ensure ease of travel for seniorcitzens in the Indian Railways;
(6) the numberof senior eltizens that have travelled by Indian Railways, ince 2020, yea-wise:
(6) the suber of senior citizens that availed any fare concessions offered bythe Indian Railways, year
Wise, and the amount of concession offered since 2020, year-vise:
(4) the amount offre concession offered to all sections, especially senior citizens since 2020, year-wise

(0) 10 (e) During the financial years 2020-21 to 2024-25 (upto December, 2024, approximately 2357.8
crore passengers ofall ages (eluding senior citizens) waved on Indian Railways. Further, with 9
view to provide sufe and convenient joumey to senior citizens, Indian Railways has already taken
‘various stops, some of which are asunder:

time of booking
Eanmarking of a combined reservation quota of six to seven lower bens per coach in
Sleeper class four to five lower berths per coach each in Air Conditioned 3 ter (3AC) and
tree to four lower berths per coach in Air Conitioned 2 tir (2AC) clases (depending on
the number of coaches of that cls in the tan) for senior citizens, Female passengers 45
{years oF age and above and pregnant worn,

Indian Railways strives to provide affordable services o all strats of the society and gave
subsidy of 856,993 erore on passenger tickets in 2022-28, This amounts to concession of 46% on
an average, to every person, travelling on Railways, In oher words for easier understanding, fhe
cost of providing service is 2100, then the price of ticket is 254 only. This subsidy is coutinuing
for all passengers. Further, concessions beyoad this subsidy amount are continuing for many
categories like 4 categories of Persons with isailities (Divyangjns), 11 categories of patients
and 8 categories of students. Further, number of passengers availing the concession in different
classes und in different rains over vasious Zonal Railways varies from year to year,
