# IBP GENERAL
IBP is a class “C” station.
It is provided on S/L, D/L & M/L sections.
Purpose is to split the lengthy BS into two so as to increase section capacity, to reduce the detentions, to reduce staff, to secure economy and efficiency in the operations.

Intermediate Block Stop Signal (IBSS) is the Home signal of the station.
Minimum equipment of signals for a Class ‘C’ station in MAS is Distant & Home
IBSS is controlled by the SM in rear.
There are two BLOCK SECTIONS  available
	1) 	Station Controlled Intermediate 			Block	Section	(SCBS)
	2) 	Block Controlled Intermediate Block 	Section 	(BCBS).

# Indications and Buttons
Indications:-
 K 1	:-	When train passes IB Signal at ‘ON”
 K 2	:-	When train passes LSS at ‘OFF’ 					position
 K 3 	:-	When train passes IB Signal at ‘OFF’ 				position
 K 4 	:-	Power fail or when bulb fused at IB 				Home / Distant
In addition to these indications buzzer is also provided.

# Reset Buttons :-
	  PB 1	:-	To reset the AC when 			train passes IB signal at ‘ON’.
 PB 2	:-	To reset the AC due to 			failure or improper counting.
 PB 3	:-To give Co-operation to 		the station in rear.

# NORMAL WORKING OF IBP
Station Controlled Intermediate Block Section is controlled by Axle Counters or Track Circuits.
In case of Axle Counters , One set of AC provided in advance of LSS and other set provided 400m in advance of IB Home Signal.

LSS is interlocked with AC and IBS signal is interlocked with the Block Instrument.
Obtain Line Clear from the advance station.
Two PNs obtained (one for Line Clear & one for consent)
Ensure AC section is free and take off LSS and IB signal.

# Normal IBP Working

When train passes LSS, AC indication shows occupied and K2 indication appears with buzzer and will be stopped when LSS knob is normalized.

When train passes IB signal (OFF) ,     K-3 indication appears with buzzer and will be stopped when IB signal knob or lever is normalized and advance SM turns the handle of BI to TOL position.

When train completely passes second axle counter (at 400 m from IBSS) section becomes free.

Now obtain consent (1 PN) for second train and take off LSS.
By the time second train reaches IB signal, first train may clear into advance station and SM will get Line Clear (1 PN) to enter IB section.

Rear end SM can take off IB signal after taking Line Clear through BI.
On S/L (IB Section), first the direction of traffic (DOT) shall be established and then the Line Clear shall be obtained from the block station in advance. After establishing DOT, the train movement in the SCBS shall be permitted.

# FAILURE OF IBSS
When IBSS at ‘ON’, on reaching IBSS, LP to contact SM in rear through telephone provided at the post of IBSS.
If it is at ‘ON’ on account of occupation of proceeding train in the B S, SM shall intimate to LP & on clearance of train SM to obtain LC thorough BI and take off IBSS.

In case of IBSS defective and LC has been obtained through block telephone, SM shall issue a message to LP through SPT supported by a PN.  LP to record in RJB.
In case of IBSS at ‘ON’ on failure of BI, on obtaining LC from station in advance, SM shall issue a message supported by PN.

SM when aware of failure of IBSS due to failure of signal itself, BI, TC/AC etc , entire BS treated as one and issue PLCT + T/369-(3b) as authority for trains.
If LP on reaching IBSS unable to contract SM in rear through SPT, after waiting for 5 minutes, pass IBSS at ‘ON’ and proceed at a speed not exceeding 15 kmph when view ahead clear and not exceedi
