(Amendment in FM Circular no. 09 of 2016)

Sub: Reduction in carrying capacity of SLRD coaches Ref: Rly Board’s letter of even no. dated 20.07.2016.

Attention is invited to FM Circular no. 09 of 2016, dated 20.07.2016 wherein instructions were issued in regard to enhancement of carrying capacity of SLRD coaches to 05 tonne.

However, the issue of enhancement of loading capacity of SLRD coaches has been examined by the Mechanical (Coaching) Directorate of Railway Board in consultation with RDSO,and it has been decided to reduce the parcel carrying capacity of each compartment of SLRD coaches from the existing 05 tonne to 04 tonne.

Henceforth, the permissible carrying capacity of each compartment of SLRD coaches

shall be 04 tonne. Thus, the total permissible carrying capacity of both the compartments of a SLRD coach shall be 08 tonne.

The above mentioned instructions shall come into force with immediate effect.

This issues with concurrence of Finance Directorate of Ministry of Railways.

Zonal Railways may take necessary action accordingly and ensure is compli
