Sub:- Emergency medical facilities at Railway stations.
~ It has been brought to the notice of Board that Zonal Railwavs are facing practical
difficulties in providing chemist stalls with the facility of doctor at identified railway stations. It
has been reported that as prescribed in Drugs and Cosmetic Act 1940 mininnum space required
for such a facility is 108 Sq. ft. or 10Sq. meter,
Board has examined the provision contained in para 1.4 of the chemist stall policy dated
3,11,2000 and reviewed the mutter in consultation with Health, Legal and Finance Directorates of
Railway Board. It has been decided that the Para 1.4 - ‘Size of the Chemist stall’ of the policy
circular dated: 3.11.2001 may be substituted as under:-
Para ld: “Size of the Chemist stall when facility of Doctor ts to be provided will be subject to
the maximum of 108 Sq. ft. However, this will not apply wherein medicines are
sold through medicines comers provided in bookstalls. dhe construction will be
done on the pattern of modular stall and a glow sign with Red Crass sign should be
prominently display on the top portion of the Chemist Shop”
