Promotion of cashless/digital modes of payment for booking reserved and unreserved tickets booking of unreserved tickets through mobile phone which is already in operation
GOVERNMENT OF INDIA (Bharat Sarkar) MINISTRY OF RAILWAYS (Rail Mantralya) (RAILWAY BOARD) 3 RRR No. 2015/TG-I/Payments through Electronic Means/Pt.1 - New Delhi, dt.2+.12.2016 General Managers (Commercial) All Zonal Railways (Commercial Circular No. }7 of 2016) Sub: Promotion of cashless/digital modes of payment for booking reserved and unreserved tickets Ref: Commercial Circular Nos.69 & 70 of 2016 dated 10.12.2016 Government has announced decisions and various measures to promote digital payments in a mission mode to transform India into a less cash-economy. ‘In this connection, Railways have also taken certain decisions, viz., installation of Point of Sale (POS) machines at the ticket counters besides the existing project of booking of unreserved tickets through mobile phone which is already in operation on certain sections including booking of platform tickets _ 2. Ministry of Railways, therefore, desire that all Zonal Railways may advise action taken/contemplated to commence unreserved ticket booking through mobile ‘phones including platform tickets in terms of this office’s letter‘No.2014/TG-I/ 10/P/UTS on mobile dated 22.08.2016 and 29.09.2015 whereby in-principle approval for launch of unreserved ticketing through mobile phone has already been communicated . 3. . In continuation to the instructions dated 22.08.2016 and 29,09,2015, Zonal Railways are also advised to ensure that two POS machines are deployed at each _ suburban station for sale of monthly/season tickets 4, The progress of installation of POS machines to be deployed at the ticket counters including two POS machines at each of suburban stations for sale of monthly season tickets may be faxed to Railway Board’s Commercial Control no.23072028/ Railway. fax no.033-43373' and also through e-miail at [email removed] everyday as already advised 5. Zonal Railways are also requested to carry out- campaigns to encourage people to use cashless/digital modes of payment for booking of reserved and unreserved (including suburban) -tickets, e.g., a) Awareness booths to be set up at each major station, where passengers would be given lessons in digital transactions especially to facilitate ticket — purchases - National campaign to commence in next 7 days b) Posters informing about cashless action plan of Railways for promoting cashless transactions and giving cahless options for buying railway tickets to be put up at stations and offices. el (2/5) Dell/M/Di/My Documents/Passenger Marketing /lotter PM-2016 c) 6.
