Sub: Revalidation of Photo identity cards of Accredited Press Correspondents.
_ Ref: Commercial Circular No.32 of 2018 dt.18.06.2018

Attention is invited to Commercial Circular No.32 of 2018 regarding the validity of
photo identity card(Railway Unique ID Card) issued by Railways to Accredited Press
Correspondents accredited by Press Information Bureau (PIB)/other competent State &
District authorities. कर ः
2. Representations have been received from press associations and correspondents
Stating that the renewal of Press accreditation Cards issued by PIB /other competent
State & District authorities generally takes 1 to 2 months after expiry of existing card. In
the renewal processing period the correspondents are not able to either book tickets or
undertake journey. Accordingly in partial modification to the circular under reference it
has been decided by competent authority that . °

a) For booking tickets beyond validity of Press accreditation Card: As a

special case, press correspondents accredited by PIB/ or other competent State

& District authorities may be allowed to book reserved ticket for Advance

Reservation Period (ARP) period of 120 days beyond the validity of their current
accreditation card. However, the press correspondents should be in possession

of a valid accreditation card issued by PIB card/ other competent State & District
authorities or proof of applying for renewal/acknowledgement issued by
competent authority i.e. PIB or other competent State & District authorities for
first two months on the day/date of performing journey. For example if the press
correspondent’s card expires on 31st December, he/she can book ticket for
advance reservation period of 120 days beyond the expiry date i.e upto the

month of April.

b) For performing journey beyond expiry of validity period of Press
accreditation card: Due to delay in renewal of press correspondents’ ID card by
PIB/ or other competent State & District authorities, two months extension
beyond validity of press correspondents’ ID cards may be given to the Railway
Unique ID card only for the purpose of performing journey only. For example if
the press correspondent'’s card expires on 31st December the Railway Unique ID
card will be valid for two more months i.e. upto next February for travel purpose
only. However, the press correspondents has to carry proof of applying for
renewal/acknowledgement issued by competent authority ie. PIB or other
competent State & District authorities.

3. Necessary instructions may be issued to all concerned immediately including
PRS/UTS for compliance
4. Zonal Railways may advise the concerned accreditation certificate issuing agencies
within their jurisdiction regarding the revised revalidation procedure
