Sub:- Rationalisation of Licence fee for Bookstatts.
In order to rationalise the Licence fee of bookstalls on Indian Railways at par with
other catering/vending licences at station premises/platforms and also to increase the
earings from bookstalls‘trolleys which are occupying prominem space at railway
stations, an exercise to rationalise the licence fee of bookstalla was undertaken. In partial
modification to the extant policy guidelines on licence fee to be realized from bookstails
at all categories of stations {except bookstalls operated by philanthropic and social
organizations) and without prejudice to the outcome of the Court cases, following
licence fee should be realized from the date of issue of these instructions. The licence
fet will be as under:-
- For A categary stations; Licence fee at 12 % of annual sales tumover or 8
minimum licence fee of Rs.20,000/- per annum per bookstall, whichever is o
- higher. The minimum licence fee will be Rs. 2000/- per annum for additional
table trolley.
|. For B and C category Stations: 12 % of annual sales tumover or a
. minimum licence fee of Rs.10,000/- per annum per bookstall, whichever is
higher. The minimum licence fee will be Rs.1600/- per annum for additional
table/troliey.
For BD category stations: 12 % of annual sales tumover or a minimum
licence fee of Ra.3G00/- per annum, whichever is higher.
For E & F category stations: 12 % of annual sales tumover or a minimum
licence fee of Rsi500/- per annuin, whichever ts higher.
There will be no change in the existing licence fee realised from
bookstalis operated by philanthropic and social organizations.
This issues with the concurrence of Finance and Legal Directorates of Railway
Bourd. Kindly acknowledge receipt of this letter.
