Sub:   Fare Structure of Duronto Express Trains. 
 
As per Hon’ble MR’s Budget announcement for 2009-10, a new train service 
called Duronto Express has been introduced which is a non-stop point-to-point service 
between selected cities throughout the country.  These trains have AC as well as non-AC 
sleeper coaches.

Vide Board’s letter of even number dated 14.9.09 (Commercial Circular No. 46 of 
2009) and 25.9.09 (commercial circular No. 52 of 2009) fares of Sealdah-New Delhi-
Sealdah, Chennai-Nizamuddin-Chennai, Nizamuddin-Pune-Nizamuddin and Howrah-
CSTM-Howrah were notified.

The fares of the remaining Duronto Express trains which will be introduced 
shortly are enclosed herewith as Annexure to this letter.    
 
4. 
Development charges, Reservation Fee and Supplementary charges for superfast 
trains will be levied additionally as per explanatory notes given in Annexure.  Catering 
charges are to be added in fares of all classes including 3AC Economy and SL class.  
However, bedroll would be provided in SL class on demand, and bedroll charges will be 
collected from such passengers on train.   
 
5. 
For the time being, no concession except that of Senior Citizen shall be applicable 
in Duronto Express trains.  Concession shall be calculated in a manner similar to that of 
trains having point to point fare structure, i.e. instead of granting concession on base 
fares, concession will be granted on all inclusive fare excluding Development charge 
which will be added subsequently by the System logic for arriving at the final fare.  Other 
charges shall be levied in full. 
 
6. 
The facility of Rail travel being provided to MPs/Ex-MPs and MLAs/Ex-MLAs 
will also be extended to Duronto Express trains.   
 
7.    Children of 5 years and above but below 12 years will continue to be charged half fare.

8.    There will be no ‘Tatkal’ facility applicable in Duronto Express Trains for the time being. 
 
9. 
Para 6 of these instructions will also apply in case of Duronto trains whose fares 
have been notified earlier vide commercial circulars No. 46 and 52 of 2009. 
 
10. 
These instructions will remain valid for a period of six months period only.  
Suitable instructions for period beyond six months will follow.
