GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF RAILWAYS RAILWAY BOARD COMMERCIAL CIRCULAR NO. 50 OF 2008 No.TCII/2215/2002/Policy. New Delhi, dt. 22.7.08. The General Managers (Comml), All Indian Railways. Sub: Repetition of stations and change of route on Circular Journey tickets. Reference rule 205 of IRCA Coaching Tariff No. 26, Part I (Vol.I) regarding Circular Journey tickets (CJTs). 2. Though repetition of stations and change of route on Circular Journey tickets is not prohibited, the same is not clearly mentioned in the rules. The matter has been examined in consultation with Zonal Railways, most of whom have informed that the above mentioned two facilities are presently being provided. It is clarified that : (i) Repetition of stations on circular journey tickets is not prohibited. However, the total number of stations, which the passenger is required to advise for break journey, will not exceed the maximum number of stations mentioned in this rule. (ii) Change of route on circular journey tickets is permitted. If the passenger wishes to travel, or is found travelling, by a longer route, he will be charged only the difference of actual fares between the booked route (as per the ticket) and diverted route, without any penalty. Refund of difference of fares will, however, not be granted in the case of travel by shorter route. 3. Necessary clarification may be issued to the staff concerned. IRCA is being asked to incorporate the above provision in the above quoted rule. (Dr. Monica Agnihotri) Director Passenger Marketing, Railway Board. Copy to: (i) General Secretary, IRCA Chelmsford Road, New Delhi for issue of necessary correction to rule 205 of IRCA Coaching Tariff No. 26, Part I (Vol. I). The sub-para (i) above may be incorporated at the end of first para of rule 205 and the sub-para (ii) above may be incorporated at the end of rule 205(4). (ii) EDV(T), Railway Board with reference to his Note No. 2007/VSS/ GL/11 (CTT) dated 20.11.2007 (P-Circular Jny. Tkt)
