Sub: Entitlement of Governors for uridertaking journeys
- by Rail.

The entitlement of the Governors is governed by (Emoluments, |
Allowances and Privileges) Act, 1982 and rules framed thereunder
viz., the Governors(Allowances atid Privileges) Rules 1987. The
entitlement of Governors has been. indicated in Annexure ‘TF’ Of IRCA
Coaching Tariff No. 25 Part I(Volume ]).of 15th January, 1998. While
going through the entitlement of the Governors, it has been observed.
that the entitlement given in the Annexure 'F" of IRCA Coaching Tariff —
No, 25 Part I(Volume J).of 15th January, 1998 is old. The position
has been checked up with the Ministry of Home Affairs and it has
been. advised that the entitlement of the Governors to travel by rail is
as under:-~ . . . ' ं
(i) For his journey within the State by rail, he shall be entitled’ to
travel in a four berth compartment or coupe, whether first-class
air-conditioned or first class and during such a journey a
Governor shall be entitled to take with him three persons in
case of.a four berth compartment and one person in case of a
coupe, without any extra charge.
(ii) For journeys on official business to places outside the State, a
Governor shall be entitled to travel m a four berth
compartment or coupe, whether first class air-conditioned or
first class and during such a journey, shall be entitled to take
with him three persons in the case of a four berth compartment
and one person in the case of:a coupe, without any extra
charge, or ERE SESE रद ः
(iii) =A Governor shall be énititled to travel on private busiyess twice
in a year during which he shall be entitled to take his spouse
by air, steamer or rail by the highest class or by road, to any
part of India and such travel shall be deemed to be travel on
duty; ) |

Provided further that if the Governor is not accompanied by his
Spouse, he may take a companion, who shall travel by the
standard. class.
Explanation: For the purpose of this clause, a journey shall
mean a point-to-point Journey by the shortest route.
