Standardization of berth No.s in FACCW (First AC cum 2ndAC composite)
coaches.
It has be~ reported that the pattern of numbering of berths in 2nd AC portion of
FACCW(First AC cum 2ndAC composite) coaches is varying amongst Railways. This, at times,
results in mismatch m the type of berth indicated on the ticket and the actual berth allotted to the
passenger.
The matter has been examined in the Mechanical Directorate of this office and
instructions have been issued to all zonal railways vide No.2000/M(C)/137/2 dated 13.09.2005
(Copy enclosed) to adopt uniform patterl\Ofnumbering of 2ndAC portion of FACCW coaches to
avoid such mismatch.

.The matter has been further deliberated and it is desired that a committee. of CCM/PM,
CPTM and CRSE will be formed on each zonal railway which will ensure that the identified
coaches are made available for renumbering and renumbered coaches are re-fired in the PRS
System with the revised numbering from the actual date from which the coach is renumbered. To
avoid any .complaintin this regard, it would be necessary for the zonal railways to issue a joint
programme for change of numbenng
of berths in respect of such identified coaches by
CCM/PM, CPTM & CRSE.
Necessary instiuctions may be issued to all concerned.

K0005.A photocopyofextractofthiss'ketchis enclosedfor readyreference.Itwillbe,notedthatin
the above-mentioned
standardizedarrangement.
