Sub: Extension of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed
between Ministry of Railways and Department of Posts for
issuing of reserved tickets through computerized Passenger
Reservation System (PRS) terminals provided in Post Offices.

Please refer to this office letter of even number dated 31.07.2017 regarding
extension of MoU for provision of PRS facility in Post Offices for one year on the
existing terms and conditions
2. The issue regarding extension of MoU has been examined in consultation
with Finance Directorate of Ministry of Railways and it has been decided to accord
post facto sanction for extension of this MoU for another one year i.e.upto
31.07.2019 on the enclosed terms and conditions.
3. ° Necessary instructions may be issued to all concerned.

REVISED TERMS AND CONDITIONS FOR PROVISION OF
PRS FACILITY IN POST OFFICES.
The PRSs to be operated by India Post will be named as “India Post
- PRS Centre”.
India Post would reserve railway tickets through the computerized
PRSs of the Railways at such locations as are mutually agreed to
between MOR and India Post. However, MOR & India Post to
rationalize existing number of IP-PRS sites keeping in view the number
of transactions at these locations.
MOR will provide hardware, communication equipment and
communication channels for which initial as well as recurring cost will
be borne by MOR.
The maintenance of the software and also any problem arising from its
maintenance will be resolved by MOR.
The accommodation, lighting and other infrastructure arrangements
will be provided by India Post.
The staff for issuing the tickets will be provided by India Post at their
cost.
The training of the staff of India Post will be arranged by MOR at
mutually agreed locations. The cost of training (excluding travelling
allowance, daily allowance etc. to be paid to the staff of India Post) will
be borne by MOR. .
The locations selected shall be hooked-up to respective main PRS
nodes, as decided by MOR.
India Post will collect the Blank computer ticket rolls at their own risk
and responsibility from the designated PRS locations identified by MOR
in consultations with India Post.
