Sub: Policy on earmarking of coaches/berths on demand from IRCTC for
value added tour packages.

Ministry of Railways vide letter of even number dated 28-11-2001 had permitted
earmarking of coaches/berths on demand from IRCTC for value added tour packages, for a
period of one year. The extension to the above scheme was given to IRCTC upto 28-11-2003
vide this office letter of even number dated 26-09-2002 and upto 28-11-2004 vide this office
letter of even number dated 05-12-2003, .

It has been decided to further extend the scheme for a period of one more year upto

28-11-2005 (journeys terminating on 28-11-2005). The same terms and conditions will
apply as mentioned in this office letter of even number dated 26-09-2002 (copy enclosed).

This issues with the concurrence of Finance Directorate of thi a vf.) of
this letter may be acknowledged.

Sub: Policy on Earmarking of coaches/berths om demand
from IRCTC for value added tour packages. ;

* . Ministry of Railways vide letter of even number dated 28;11.2001 had permitted
earmarking, of coaches/berths on demand from IRCTC for value added tour packages, for
a period of one year. थी

The above scheme has been reviewed in Railway Board and it has been decided to
permit IRCTC the above facility for ome more year i.e. upto (28.11.2003, subject to
following conditions: - '

(a). Out of total berths asked for by IRCTC, not more than 20% of the cancellation —
should be permitted. No refund will be allowed to {RCTC for berths cancelled
beyond 20%, IRCTC will ensure to test the market properly and ask for the

berths in a more conservative manner. . z OS oe

(b) CCM/PM should apply his mind for secing the relevant demand inthe trains and
strike a proper balance between normal passengers and passengers booked by

» (c) The officers from IRCTC should personally verify the additional features of value

added tours and also develop a mechanism about the response of the customers
for the total package and its long term life cycle value of the customer,

{d) These should be branded tour packages of IRCTC.

(e) IRCTC should also be asked to undertake an aggressive campaign during, jean
period when most of the trains are vacant. They should also explore to develop

(H in case of Rajdhani and Shatabdi, IRCTC should broad base their marketing effort
to generate demand for 2-tier AC sleeper as well
