Sub Inclusion of the name of children below the age of five years in the
ticket

>... As per extant instructions for the children below the age of five years no
tickets are required to be purchased. In the recent Gaisal accident on Northeast
Frontier Railway, it had come to the notice of the Ministry of Railways that it
was difficult to establish the identity of some children below the age of five
years whose parents had died in the accident, as no particulars regarding the
children were available with the Railway Administration
The feasibility of storing the details of the children below the age of five
years in the system is being examined. Till such time this provision is made in
the system, the following measure may be adopted by all the Zonal Railways to
store the data regarding the children below 5 years accompanying the
passengers:- .
i) The passengers may be asked to indicate the name(s) of the
child/children below the age of 5 years, who will be accompanying them
during the journey, in the requisition form submitted at the time of
seeking reservation. These names will not be fed in the computer but kept
as record
ii) The passengers may also be requested to give the name(s) of the
child/children below the age of 5 years accompanying them in the train to
the Train Conductor who will keep a note of this in the Reservation
Chart
Wide publicity may be given to this aspect through leading newspapers
to apprise public about this decision. Announcements may also be made
through public announcement systems at Railway Stations and Reservation
