(Commercial Circular No.37 of2009) Sub.:- Reduction of Tatkal Charges. As announced by Hon'ble Minister for Railways while presenting Railway Budget 2009-10 in the Parliament on 03-07-2009, it has been decided to reduce the Tatkal Charges as given below:- i) The Tatkal Charges have been fixed as a percentage of fare at the rate of 10% of basic fare for second class and 30% of basic fare for all other classes subject to minimum and maximum as given in the table below:- .~ Class of Travel Minimum Tatkal Char~es (in Rs. 10.00 75.00 75.00 200.00 200.00 200.00 Second (sittin Sleeper AC Chair Car AC 3 Tier AC 2 Tier Executive ii) The above charges will be levied uniformly both in peak period and non- peak periods. . Tatkal tickets will be issued for actual distance of travel, instead of end-to- end, subject to the distance restriction applicable to the train. The same. Tatkal berth/seat may be booked in multiple legs till preparation of charts. At the time of preparation of charts, unutilized p9rtion may be released to the General RAC/Waiting list passengers. iii) iv) Tatkal facility will be introduced in Executive Class of Shatabadi Express trains also, by earmarking 10% of the accommodation available i.e. 5 seats per coach. The existing refund rules of tatkal tickets will remain unchanged. v) 2. CRIS will make necessary changes in the software for this purpose under intimation to all Zonal Railways as well as to Board's Office.' ...2/- Dell/MyDoclIment/TatkallLetter 20095 3. Board desires that the above changes may be given wide publicity well in advance of its implementation. Suitable instructions to all concerned may be issued to ensure that the benefit of reduced Tatkal Charges is passed on to the passengers. 4. The above changes will be implemented from 01.10.2009. 5.
