Sub: Concession to dependent children & companion of Accredited Press’
Correspondents
As per existing rules, 50% concession is admissible in all classes in basic
fares of Mail/Express trains and in fares of Rajdhani/Shatabdi/Jan Shatabdi trains to
accredited Press Correspondents for unlimited travel on bonafide press work. Same
concession is also admissible to spouse of the correspondent while travelling with
him/her once in a financial year. The above was intimated to Railways vide
Board’s letter of even number dated 10.8.2009 (Commercial Circular No 36 of
2009 and corrigendum dated 24.9.2009.
2. As announced by Hon’ble MR on 24.2.2010 in the Budget Speech for 2010-
11, Ministry of Railways have decided to extend the concession to (i).
companion of those accredited press correspondents who do not have.a spouse,
and _ to (ii) dependent children up to 18 years of age of accredited press
correspondents. This concession can. be availed by companion/children of press
correspondents for tickets purchased on or after 20,.4.2010
3. Accordingly, Annexure ‘C’ as mentioned in Commercial Circular No 36 of
‘2009 stands modified and a revised proforma for undertaking is hereby enclosed
For availing concession for companion/children the accredited Press correspondent
shall give an undertaking to the Chief Reservation Supervisor/Station —
Manager/Booking Supervisor as per revised Annexure ‘C’ at the time of booking»
the ticket
4. The concession for companion will be extended in case of only those
correspondents who do not have a spouse. This concession for the companion or
dependent children is admissible only when they are travelling with the Accredited
Press Correspondent
5. It may be ensured that the concession to spouse/companion/children is
availed only once in a financial year by the concerned Press correspondent. A Flag
may be put in the system (UTS/PRS) whenever the spouse/children/companion
avails such concession
6. All other terms and conditions including the element of concession, the
class of entitlement etc shall remain same as mentioned in Commercial Circular No
_ 36 of 2009
